1: Show your Reiho: show your steps to the start line and how you assume sonkyo.
Then, most importantly, show your Kamae and posture to the judges for a few seconds after "Hajime" command.
2: Carefully approach to the Shokujin (both kensens touching each other) distance, then do the Kekogoe (kiai) as loud as possible.
3: Carefully step in to your uchima (striking distance:you need to know your exact uchima) by taking the center with your shinai (=pressure your opponent).
4: Move the vertical hip-to-head line forward with keeping your left leg straight (no bending knee) to give more pressure to your opponent: at the same time this can be your "Tame".
5 A: if the opponent does not back off but staying there: Execute an immediate and explosive strike.
5 B: if the opponent moves forward: Debana waza is most effective. Suriage waza can be done. Kaeshi waza is also one of the choices.
5 C: if the opponent backs off: Close in to your uchima again and repeat 3 ~ 5.

The below is my own thoughts and understanding:
*There are different types such as Attack Type, Defense Type, Power Type and Speed Type Kenshi, so you need to deal differently depending on the type. Use your own experience, knowledge and level of waza accordingly.
*Defense type Kenshi would give a tempting open-kensen movement to the opponent to execute 5B. So be careful not to get lured in to the trap. Use the right foot effectively against this type.
